Trees for Canada & Scout Sleep-Over
April 2001
This year's Scout Sleep-Over was held, as it is every year, the night before Scoutrees on April 20th.
Originally, the Troop had planned to play some Nintendo, go 10 pin bowling, come back to have some pizza & snacks then watch some movies before turning in for the evening. However the Nintendo was so popular, we skipped the bowling. To keep the 2 Leaders entertained while the youth played video games, Scouter's Steve and Bill brought in their computers to play with! After playing Nintendo, eating pizza and watching 2 of the 3 movies, the youth FINALLY went to sleep. To get even with Josh for snoring so much through the short night, the youth who woke up early piled sneakers on top of him while he slept! According to Jesse, a true "Kodiak Moment".
After a quick breakfast at McDonalds, we joined up with our Beaver Colony and planted some trees in Deveron Park. The Cub Pack had gone out early and planted before our arrival. Here, Calvin and another Beaver busy themselves digging a hole. Dale and a young Beaver dig another hole. Calvin and another Beaver tell Hawkeye how to dig a hole the right way! Check out the boots on Calvin Cody, Jesse and Josh wonder, "Do you think it's deep enough?" Scouter Steve holds a tree steady while Josh and Jesse backfill the hole. A rather tired bunch, wouldn't you say?
Maybe they shouldn't have stayed up quite so late the night before! With all the trees planted, Cody enjoys a ride back courtesy of Travis. These 2 pictures show the trees the Scout Group planted in Deveron Park.
The youth members of the 66th Group raised over $900.00 for Scoutrees this year! The Scouts raised $270.00 and the Beavers raised an unbelievable $615.00 ! ! !In total the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts of London District planted over 1700 trees throughout the city in just one day!
AWESOME!!
