Sylvan Spring Clean Up - April 2001
The Troop spent Saturday morning feeding tree limbs into a wood chipper in the Orchard. While coming back from lunch at Fronierland Josh found himself a small Garter snake.
"Can I take it home?"
"I don't think your Mom will like it, so you better put it back!"After lunch, the Troop put their efforts into moving a small footbridge that had been washed downstream below Frontierland. Here we are back at the Pine Junction campsite ready for our next assignment which was . . . . . . helping to move some of the woodchips they made in the morning down the trail behind the Cabooses. The result of everyone's labour will eventually be a network of trails covered in good layer of woodchips. To the many youth involved with moving the woodchips, this was a most welcome sight.
The last wheelbarrow load of chips for the trail!Another group worked on cutting the old caboose frame into pieces for removal. Finally, after a hard days work it was time for a fantastic pot-luck supper. Here we see the efforts of the Scouters who volunteered (sort of) to cook the dozens of sausages, hamburgers and hotdogs necessary to feed the more than 100 persons involved with the days work. Hey look everybody, I can make aluminium foil catch fire!!! Ahhhhh, anyone got a water bucket?
Because of our early departure from the camp, Scouter Ted was kind enough to bring our silk work crests to our Thursday night meeting.
Here he is showing us his campfire blanket and collection of crests.Travis tries on an authentic Austrailian bush hat. So much for Scouter Teds skill as a guest speaker....
he's put half the youth to sleep!
